The 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution was a four-day series of non-violent mass demonstrations that toppled the Marcos dictatorship and installed Corazon Aquino as president in 1986. The revolution, which ran from February 22 to 25, was considered as the forerunner of nonviolent demonstrations around the world such as those in Eastern Europe. This movement awakens the minds of people around the world to fight for their freedom and democracy.
In accordance with the law, every 25th day of February is declared as the anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution. This declaration is done to remember the revolution that changed the country from a dictatorship to a democratic one.
The Bicol University UNESCO Club, the only university-based organization accredited by the EDSA People Power Commission together with its partner organizations will be spearheading simultaneous fora and series of caravans to commemorate the 29th Anniversary of People Power Revolution.
