Under the joint collaboration with the Andalas University and Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, the UNESCO Looking Beyond Disaster Forum happened last October 7-11, 2013 in Mercure Hotel, Padang, Indonesia.
BU UNESCO Club adviser and NAUCP Board Member, Prof. Jonathan Jaime Guerrero with NAUCP External Vice-President Engr. Alein Navares were endorsed by the Secretary-General of the Philippine National Commission for UNESCO Dr. Virginia Miralao upon submission of their projects entitled "Eco-Imagineering: Green Social Enterprise & Grassroots Sustainability Education for Building Youth as Resilience Catalysts", and "Tarabangan, Tara! Bangon!"

The aim of the Forum was for youth from the Asia and the Pacific regions to share good practices, policies and experiences with others for developing and strengthening activities for disaster risk reduction in the context of education for sustainable development, health care emergency response and community rebuilding.
Engr. Navares and Prof. Guerrero led the ESD group and presented their team project "Flood Preparedness Knowledge & Youth Action Pool Using Cloud Network Technology" to the delegates and UNESCO Bangkok officials. The project aims to consolidate youth-initiated interventions as well as demographic data and current situations in selected flood-prone communities in Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines and Thailand.
